Number of Raiffeisenbank Cards in Russia Hits 500,000

Raiffeisenbank issued its 500,000th banking card in Russia this month. The total turnover for Raiffeisenbank’s cards inside and outside Russia topped USD 3.5 billion in 2006.

Roman Vorobiev, Head of Retail Banking at Raiffeisenbank, noted: “We were the first bank with foreign ownership to issue cards in Russia. Passing the half-million milestone is a very good result for any bank and is particularly significant for us. Banking cards were one of our first products when we entered the retail market in 1999”.

VTB is the first Russian bank servicing UnionPay cards

VTB started servicing bankcards issued by the Chinese company UnionPay throughout its entire ATM network. Thus, VTB became the first Russian bank to extend bankcard servicing of this Chinese card processing company. In 2007, which is announced the Year of China in Russia, the Bank is to extend its ATM and outlet network connected to the UnionPay system, mainly by getting its subsidiary VTB24 involved in UnionPay cards servicing.

ZAO Citibank launches the first Cash Back Credit Card in Russia

Moscow, March 13th 2007 – ZAO Citibank introduced the first Cash Back Credit Card to the Russian market today. This card rewards the client for using it with 1% cash back on every retail transaction.
